Sooper Troopers was set up to use performing arts and related activities
to increase the self-esteem and confidence of people with a disability.
Originating from a Sheffield City Council activity, the group moved towards
independence when the council could no longer provide financial support.
Since then, the group has become an entity in its own right.
In addition to dance, singing and acting skills, there is an
opportunity for a variety of associated crafts like woodwork, stagecraft,
playing musical instruments, designing and making costumes.
The groups are run by paid sessional workers. volunteers and staff from Social Services. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide care for members. Consequently, all our members have to be accompanied or be sufficiently independent so as to not require support.
