The book was developed by Sheffield Mencap as the result of a survey of 100 older family carers. One of the
main messages from family carers concerned their worry about how others may support their relatives in the
future, and particularly in an emergency. Having supported their relatives for many years, they had built up
a wealth of information that they wanted and needed to share.
 My Life Book captures lots of information that could be vital to anyone involved in providing care in the
future. It can really help to understand a person's personality and behaviour. The book includes family
history, important people, feelings, likes and dislikes, daily routines, health and communication.
It is a strong A5 ring binder containing about 90 pages made of good quality card. It is divided into 5 sections and many sub-sections, with 20 or so plain pages at the
back for additional information.
