There was a Summer Fayre and
Garden Party attended by Solomon King a pop idol at the time.
Solomon King is pictured left signing autographs. He also made a moving speech - during which one of the children collected
all the shoes and coats that people had discarded in the heat,
and threw them in a nearby stream, along with handbags and anything else he could find.
There were sponsored swims, sponsored walks, flag days....
Celebrity football matches, more jumble sales,
and Lord Mayors Parades with sponsored floats.

It took almost six years from conception to building the new Norfolk Lodge premises, officially opened on 29th September, 1974. Almost £80,000 was raised - with
the building costing £64,000, there was enough left over to cover immediate running costs.
Below is an early aerial view of the Lodge and surrounding area before it was developed. This picture hangs in the present lounge area.

Above right - A piece from the Houses of Parliament rescued after the War and placed in the grounds, where it can still
be seen. Below - One of the original windows from the old Lodge which has been preserved and is displayed
in the foyer, and a commemorative plaque
