There was a Jumbo Jumble Sale.....
With 12 lorry loads of junk awaiting their eager scrutiny,
it will be a jumbo jumble sale for customers of Sheffield Mencap
Society's Bring -and-Buy at Cemetery Road Vestry Hall on Saturday.
Wardrobes of clothes, pairs of skis, prams, lawnmowers, an electric cooker in working order,
and much else besides, comprise the bumper bundle contributed by Bradway and Lowedges residents
in answer to leaflets distributed by the society a fortnight ago.
Proceeds will go to a fund for a new centre for handicapped children.

There was an Art Exhibition....

All the exhibits were later auctioned by Rupert Spencer of Henry Spencer and Co.

the Sheffield College of Art, local Art Societies. They received nearly 300 works of art -

Alderman Sydney Dyson, the Lord Mayor, opened the exhibition, and
offered the Town Hall for the next big event -

speaker. In the photo above, Pam Torry presents Austin Mitchell's wife with a bouquet
