The group started in 1996 and is funded by Sheffield Social Services.
There are places for 20 adults (over 18's) with mild to moderate learning disabilities, with referrals through a social worker. There are more places for those who can fund their place using Direct Payments or
other methods.
Places are permanent. People only leave the group if they chose to
or if they become no longer suitable for the group.
We meet at Norfolk Lodge (the Sheffield Mencap building)
every Thursday and Friday 45 weeks of the year, with 7 weeks holiday when the group do not meet.
People who come along
pay a small contribution towards tea and coffee and any special activities we may be doing.
There are 5 members of staff- a coordinator who organises
the group and 4 support workers who run the groups.
Day Services have a Cafe group, film making, arts and crafts, card making, computers, sport and much more.
We have regular trips out. Our aim is to enable individuals to progress and
achieve through meaningful activities. We work towards all members becoming more involved in the local
community and provide information and experiences that are accessible and confidence building.
