Volunteer
Volunteers are a vital asset to Sheffield Mencap and Gateway Club. Without our volunteer workforce we could not offer the many varied activities, groups and projects we're so proud of.
We have over 100 volunteers. Some serve on our Executive Committee and are responsible for the overall management of our organisation as Trustees and Directors. Others support people in many group activities including cooking, art, music, various sports, as well as trips out and weekends away. Many volunteers have little or no experience of working with people with learning disabilities when they first get involved , but usually learn quickly and enjoy the experience. Please read Michelle's story in the "What we do" section- she is one of our many wonderful Gateway volunteers.
Volunteers here have undertaken many courses including Food Hygiene, Makaton, First Aid, and Health and Safety. We pay expenses to make sure that volunteers are not out of pocket while making a valuable contribution to the running of our organisation. We are always interested to hear from anyone wishing to join our team of volunteers.
We would like to say a big "THANK YOU" to our excellent volunteers. We fully appreciate all their hard work and are very proud of them.
