Four Gateway Clubs are open every week at Norfolk Lodge to offer people with learning disabilities the opportunity to meet together in a safe, friendly environment.
Monday and Wednesday Gateway Clubs provide services to adults while Tuesday Gateway is for teenagers and twenty-somethings and Friday Gateway is for young people from 6 years upwards. Gateway members can choose from a variety of activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, snooker, sports and bingo. Some people like to come so they can just meet up with old and new friends and have a dance in the disco.
Gateway members come from group homes, family homes, hostels and their own homes. On average 100 members attend each Monday and Wednesday night. Each year, some Gateway groups go away for the weekend for short holidays which prove more and more popular each year and are great fun for those who go.
Gateway evenings are always well-attended and very popular! As well as the Gateway staff, the clubs rely on the support of volunteers who help with the activities and ensure that all the members have an enjoyable time!
